Four in a Row

Drop your discs and line up four before your opponent does.

About Four in a Row

Four in a Row brings the classic connect-four board game to your phone. The board is 7 columns wide and 6 rows tall: tap a column, your disc drops to the lowest empty cell, and the first player to line up four of their own discs — horizontally, vertically or diagonally — wins. Play against the computer (CPU), pass the phone for local matches, connect two nearby devices over Bluetooth, or play someone far away online with a short game code.

The computer opponent searches moves ahead, spots threats and defends against them, at three difficulty levels from genuinely beatable to rarely forgiving. Stuck? A hint shows the column the computer would play, and undo takes back your last move. Your profile and per-mode statistics are kept on your device, with no account and no sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Is Four in a Row free to play?

Yes. Four in a Row is free to download and play from Google Play. It is supported by ads served through Google AdMob, and there is no subscription.

Does Four in a Row work without an internet connection?

Yes. Games against the computer, pass & play and Bluetooth matches all run entirely on your devices. Only online matches and the ads need a connection.

Can two people play on separate phones?

Yes, in two ways. Over Bluetooth, one player hosts and the other joins from a phone nearby, with no internet involved. Online, one player creates a game and shares a short code, and the other types it in — no account needed on either side.

What are the rules?

Two players take turns dropping a disc into one of seven columns, and it falls to the lowest empty cell. The first player to get four of their own discs in a line — horizontally, vertically or diagonally — wins. If the 42-cell board fills up first, the game is a draw.

Why does the app ask for location permission?

Android requires location permission before an app can search for nearby Bluetooth devices, so the request appears only when you join a Bluetooth match and the app has to look for the host's phone. Hosting a match does not need it. The game never reads or sends your location.

Which languages does Four in a Row support?

Bosnian, English and German.

What data does Four in a Row collect?

The game asks for no account and keeps your profile and statistics on your device. During an online match, the studio's relay server sees your IP address, the name you enter and the moves, and keeps none of it after the match. The Google AdMob SDK that serves the ads collects an advertising ID, device and app information, approximate location derived from your IP address, and ad interaction data. The privacy policy sets this out in full.
